Industry Veteran Appointed to Lead National Nursing Organization

January 31, 2012

The American Assisted Living Nurses Association has named Terri Berrigan, LPN, C-AL president of the only national non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to nursing in assisted living. As a long time advocate for assisted living nursing and the seniors they serve, Berrigan says she is privileged to take the helm.

“I’m honored to be named president and continue AALNA’s work to promote professional growth of assisted living nurses through education, research and participation in public policy forums,” said Berrigan.

According to outgoing president, and new board chairman, Josh Allen, RN, C-AL, Berrigan has had an active role in AALNA for years, including serving on the national board and playing an instrumental role in forming AALNA’s Arizona Chapter five years ago.  Berrigan also serves on the Arizona State Board Nursing.

“Terri’s passion in promoting the assisted living nurse practice and staying current with regulatory requirements will serve her well as board president,” said Allen.  “Her knowledge of evidence-based best practices and industry compliancy not only helps our network of AL nurses but will aid in elevating the standards of quality care for years to come.”

Berrigan has been active in the senior living industry since 1992.  Currently she is the Executive Director at Emeritus’ senior living community located in East Mesa, Arizona.

Founded in 2001, the American Assisted Living Nurses Association is the only national non-profit association dedicated exclusively to nursing in assisted living. Operated by nurses, for nurses.  AALNA is lead by a Board of Directors comprised of a diverse group of volunteer nurses from around the United States.  For more information visit the Association’s website at www.ALNursing.org.
